Frequently Asked Questions
Question: How many books can I check out at once?
Answer: We start with three books at a time. This number can increase or decrease. If you have frequent overdues, lost, or damaged books, then your number of books at a time will decrease. If you love reading and three books simply isn't enough, and if you have no overdues for a while, then your number of books at a time will increase. Ask the teacher-librarian if you have any further questions.

Question: I lost my library book. What should I do?
Answer: Keep looking for it until the end of the school year. Most of the time, books we think are lost show up in our backpacks, on the shelves of our classroom libraries, or at home. If you still can't find your book in June, you will be asked to pay the replacement fee. Payments can be made in cash in the learning commons or digitally through School Cash Online.

Question: I paid for a lost book and then I found it! Can I get a refund?
Answer: If you found your book before the end of the school year, please bring it to the library for a refund. If you found it after the end of the school year, we have already used your payment to purchase a replacement copy, so we cannot issue a refund. You are welcome to return the book to the library as a donation, or you may keep it.

Question: I spilled water on my book / dropped it in a puddle / someone scribbled on the pages. Will I get charged for damages?
Answer: We always try to fix books first. If a book is well-loved, the pages may start falling out or the spine may break. This is normal and expected for an old book! You will not be charged for any reasonable wear and tear. If you damage a book beyond reasonable wear and tear, and it cannot be repaired (eg. significant water damage, writing on pages), you will be asked to pay the replacement fee. Payments can be made in cash in the learning commons or digitally through School Cash Online.
